We’ve rounded up a selection of eggscellent fun family activities for you to do with your children across the Cotswolds and beyond these Easter holidays. From mEGGa egg hunts in some of the region’s most spectacular settings, religious, cultural and craft events to the chance to get active or see mother nature in action. Whether you live in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Hereford or Oxfordshire, hop to it and explore our round up of Easter activities.



Easter Adventure at Over Farm, Gloucester (8th – 23rd April)

Just mile outside Gloucester centre lies rural idyll, Over Farm. During the Easter holidays take part in their children’s Easter trail – fun for all the family. The trail will take you on a short walk around the farm in search of the Easter bunny’s giant eggs. Make sure you look out for the friendly animals along the way and don’t forget your wellies!

To take part in the trail, please purchase your trail sheet from the farm shop and follow the signs from there. The cost of the trail is £3 per child (adults go free) and there’s a prize if you can crack the trail. There’s no need to book in advance – just turn up! Easter at Gloucester Cathedral (8th – 23rd April)

Gloucester Cathedral will play host to an enjoyable trail during the Easter holidays, with the chance to discover what happened on the very first Easter day, spot eggs on the journey, and finish with a visit to the shop to claim a small egg.

Blenheim Palace Easter Weekend, Oxfordshire (14th – 17th April)

Be one of the first to enjoy Blenheim Palace’s first ever giant egg hunt! Explore the Formal Gardnes with our first ever giant Easter Egg hunt, then join the Easter Bunny at the Vintage Fun Fair at the Pleasure Gardens. Enjoy a Helter Skelter, Chair o’planes, mini swing chairs, game stalls, a clown and ‘butterfly’ stitle walkers offering lots of fun for young visitors.

Other family activities, refreshments and Easter treats alongside the usual Pleasure Gardens’ family activities: the giant Marlborough Hedge Maze, Butterfly House and Adventure Playground provide something for everyone for an easter eggstravaganza par eggselence. Great Egg Hunt at Cotswold Farm Park, Gloucestershire [8th – 23rd April]

Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park has eggstended Easter and is a must for anyone with children living in or visiting the Cotswolds these holidays. Join the ‘Great Egg Hunt’. Every day from 8th – 23rd April there will be an egg hunt in the Easter Bunny’s Garden; keep your eyes peeled and do your best to find them and receive a special prize! One for every child. The Easter Joust, Sudeley Castle, Gloucestershire (from April 1)

The rumours are true! Jousting returns to Sudeley this Easter Sunday! The Cavalry of Heroes will be providing family friendly entertainment with high energy skilled performances from both stunning horses and great experienced horsemen. Watch and cheer as your favourite knights take on the joust of their lives! And boo our infamous Black Knight Lord Pendragon as he battles against our Heroic and Noble Knights. Easter at Rachel Shilston Inspiring Creativity

Creative children can enjoy a host of seasonal activities at Rachel Shilston Inspiring Creativity Studio, with its parent and child Easter craft session a sure highlight. The two-hour workshop offers the chance for little and big kids to have fun working together to create a charming keepsake, making a mixed-media Easter bunny with paint and mosaic tiles. Go Ape in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire (runs throughout the year)

For active little bunnies try Easter Go Ape Dean this Easter holidays! “Go Ape” in the Forest of Dean combines the thrill of traversing obstacle courses, zip wires and rope swings in the tree tops with the opportunity to enjoy nature and the forest landscape. The Big Batsford Chicken Hunt at Batsford Arboretum (8th to 23rd April)

Putting a twist on the traditional Easter Egg hunt, little ones at Batsford Arboretum can find the hens that laid them in the Big Batsford Chicken Hunt. Children must uncover all the secret locations of the hidden hens at the day-out destination, marking them on a map to win a special prize. Promising the perfect opportunity for children to burn off some of those Easter eggs, as well as the chance to explore the beautiful location in the fresh air, this special event is sure to go down a treat with Gloucestershire families. Croome Egg Hunt, Croome Court, Worcestershire (April 8)

With stacks to see and explore from pretty gardens to wildlife trails, it’s easy to see why Croome is one of the best loved National Trust properties in Herefordshire. Not far from Ledbury, it is a lovely place for a romantic stroll at any time of year. It can also be brilliant for families, however, with hands-on play areas and plenty to try and learn. Eastnor Castle Easter mEEGa Hunt (April 14th – 17th)

Easter wouldn’t be the same without the annual Easter Treasure Hunt. Join in the mEGGa hunt around the castle and grounds, hunt for Eastnor chickens and bunnies dressed in various costumes from around the world to be in with a chance to win a mEGGa chocolate egg in a basket. All participants will receive a chocolate treat. Admission to castle and grounds – adults £9.50, seniors £8.50, child (three to 15) £6, family (two adults plus three children) £25. 11am to 4.30pm. CountryTastic Three Counties Showground, Malvern ( April 14)

CountryTastic is the must-do day out this Easter holidays. Look forward to an action-packed, hands-on event with food, farming and countryside at its core. Keep the kids entertained all day long with free activities, entertainment, their favourite countryside creatures and much, much more.
